Your Visit Dental Visit Guelph

Welcome. We’re Glad You Found Us.

Choosing a new dentist is a bigger decision than most people admit. You’re trusting someone with your health, your comfort, and in many cases, your anxiety. We don’t take that lightly.

At Scottsdale Dental Centre, we’ve been welcoming new patients to 630 Scottsdale Drive since 1987. Whether you’re new to Guelph, haven’t seen a dentist in a while, or are simply looking for a practice that feels right, we’d be honoured to be your dental home.

Here’s exactly what to expect.

Before You Arrive

A few things to have ready

  • Your health card and dental insurance information if you have it
  • A list of any medications you’re currently taking
  • Notes on any dental concerns, pain, or questions you’d like to discuss
  • Your completed new patient forms — you can download these in advance to save Tim

Don’t have insurance? That’s okay. We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and offer direct billing to most major insurers. We’ll help you understand your coverage before any treatment begins.

What Happens at Your First Appointment

Your first visit — no surprises

Your first appointment will typically take 60 to 90 minutes. We deliberately leave enough time to do this properly, not to rush through a checklist, but to actually get to know you and your oral health.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

We’ll listen first. Before anything else, we want to hear from you. What brings you in? What concerns you? What hasn’t felt right? What are you hoping for? Your goals shape everything that follows.

We’ll review your health history. Dental health and overall health are deeply connected. We’ll ask about your medical history, current medications, and any previous dental experiences, including difficult ones. If you’re anxious about dental visits, please tell us. We have sedation options and a team that genuinely knows how to help.

We’ll take any necessary x-rays. Using low-radiation digital x-rays, we’ll check for cavities, bone loss, infections, and issues that aren’t visible to the naked eye. Our 3D CT scanning is available for more complex cases if needed.

We’ll perform a comprehensive examination. Dr. Ahmad will examine your teeth, gums, jaw, and existing dental work. We’ll chart everything carefully and assess your gum and bone health. We also perform an oral cancer screening, a head and neck evaluation that takes just a few minutes and can be genuinely life-saving.

We’ll talk through what we find, honestly. If you need treatment, we’ll explain exactly what, why, and what your options are. We will never recommend treatment you don’t need. We’ll give you time to ask questions and make decisions without pressure. A written treatment plan with clear pricing will be provided before any work begins.

What Makes a First Visit Here Different

You’ll see the same dentist next time

At Scottsdale Dental Centre, continuity is not an accident, it’s how we operate. The dentist who sees you today will be the dentist who sees you next year. Your history, your preferences, your concerns, they’ll be remembered. You won’t start over with a stranger at every appointment.

You won’t feel rushed

We respect your time by starting appointments on time. We also respect your health by not cutting corners. If your appointment runs a few minutes long because a question needed a proper answer, that’s the right call.

You won’t feel pressured

We operate on honest, no-pressure care. If you need treatment, we’ll tell you clearly and explain why. If you don’t, we’ll tell you that too. Your trust matters more to us than any single treatment plan.
