At Scottsdale Dental we understand that many people experience fear and anxiety when they visit the dentist. This fear or anxiety can prevent many people from going to the dentist and keeping them from getting the necessary dental treatment in a comfortable fashion.
Don’t let dental anxiety keep you from regular dental care any longer!
If you or someone you know has a high level of anxiety about visiting the dentist, hates needles, hates the noises and smells associated with a dental office, or are ashamed or embarrassed by their teeth, they may be a candidate for sleep or sedation dentistry.
Sedation dentistry will allow you to remain calm, relaxed and comfortable during any dental procedure you may need. Depending on the level of sedation dentistry you choose, you will have very little or no memory of the treatment provided.
Bring us a clear copy of a recent x-rays, and we will perform a no-charge consultation to determine if you would be a good candidate for sedation dentistry.

Are you a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation Dentistry in Guelph will immensely benefit you if you have experienced any of the following while recieving dental treatment:
- Adultsl with fear or anxiety
- Past negative or traumatic dental experiences
- A fear of needles
- A difficult time getting numb
- A strong gag reflex
- Problems keeping your mouth open
- Extensive dental problems
- A tight schedule and would like to accomplish considerable dental care in 1 or 2 longer visits vs. multiple visits.
- Children too young to co-operate or with significant dental needs
Sedation Dentistry is great for all types of dentistry including children's dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, wisdom teeth or multiple extractions and extensive restorative dentistry.
We Offer The Full Spectrum of Sedation Options:
Mild Sedation (Nitrous Oxide Sedation i.e. Laughing Gas): It lowers your anxiety, gag reflex, etc. and allows the treatment to be completed while your remain comfortable. You can drive yourself home after the treatment is over as there are no lingering effects!
Moderate Sedation (Nitrous Oxide & Sleeping Pill/Oral Sedation): You drift in and out of sleep and often do not recall much of the treatment session afterwards. You are not aware of the procedure, however, you are conscious and able to co-operate with any instructions.
Another major advantage is the amnesic effect of the oral sedation pill - ie you will likely not remember much of the procedure afterwards.
The vast majority of patients do extremely well with one of the above options, however, in rare instances requiring additional sedation, we provide General Anaesthesia.
Deep (Full) Sedation (General Anaesthesia): A qualified anesthetist will administer the anaesthesia and monitor you, and we will perform the dentistry. You have absolutely no awareness of what is going on and no recollection once treatment is over, you are fully asleep at all times.
You require absolutely no referrals outside our practice - our first class facilities are fully equipped, and our staff fully trained to perform the full spectrum of Sedation Dentistry in a safe & comfortable way!
