We provide Great Dentures that Look & Feel Great!

What are dentures and why might I need them?
Dentures are dental prosthesis used for replacing one, multiple or all missing teeth.

What are the different kinds of dentures?
Complete dentures refer to dentures that replace either all of the upper teeth or all of the lower teeth.
Partial dentures refer to dentures that replace single or multiple missing teeth.

How do dentures stay in?
Partial Dentures stay in by clasping/grabbing on to the existing teeth that remain.

Complete Upper Dentures stay in through the suction action of the musculature in the mouth.

Complete Lower Dentures stay in the mouth through gravity and some retention from the gums. However, they generally do not stay in very well without the placement of at least 2 dental implants, or in rare instances with the use of denture adhesvies or denture glues.

What are the alternatives to dentures?
In terms of the ability to chew and comfort, the next best thing to natural teeth are Dental Implants, then come Fixed Dental Crowns/Bridges, and then come Dentures.

How are dentures made & What do they look like?
Custom Dentures are made my carefully making a mould or impression of your gums and using specialized methods to customize the fit of the dentures to your mouth. This involves seleting the right kind shape and color of teeth, ensuring the denture fits comfortably and adequately so that you are able to speak, chew and smile comfortably.

Below is a more detailed description of the different kinds of dentures and related procedures.

Dentures Denturist in GuelphFull Complete Dentures
If you are missing all your upper or all your lower teeth, these are made of high quality custom fit materials that suit and fit your mouth and facial apperance.

Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures are generally placed immediately following the removal of all or some of your teeth that cannot be fixed.  They serve as an esthetic solution while your gums heal. After the healing period is over, such dentures are generally replaced with our Custom Fit Dentures to ensure great long term fit and satisfaction.

Partial Dentures
Partial Dentures, as the name suggests, only replace some of your missing teeth. They generally clasp on to any existing teeth that remain.  We offer two kinds of partial dentures:

Partial Dentures in Guelph Denture Clinic1 - Cast Metal Dentures that are very strong and very retentive;

Acrylic Partial Dentures2 - Acryllic Partial Dentures have minimal metal to them and are often cheaper, however, they also feel buliker and may not stay in as well.

Implant-Retained Dentures
Often Complete or Partial Dentures cannot stay in adequately either by themselves or even with the support of existing teeth, and we can geatly improve their retention by placing implants to hold the dentures down tightly.

Relines/Rebase/Repairs/Soft Liners
The longer you have your dentures for, the higher the likelihood that your gums will naturally shrink over time and alter the fit and tightness of the denture. Often times, this can be addressed by doing a simple reline and adding more material to where the gums have shrunk.  This avoids the necessity for a new denture and the use of messy denture adhesives or denture glues.
